Microsoft Media Center Usb Remote Control

Altough this remote has been branded with the mark of the beast, it's a very usefull device for creating a media center pc.

First: verify if the usb identity of the device matches the ID below. In case of a older version, the mceusb already availble through lirc-0.7.1 should work.

[root@freevo ~]# lsusb
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0471:0815 Philips

I use Fedora Core 4 with a lirc-0.7.1 version on board

[root@freevo ~]# rpm -q lirc
lirc-0.7.1-3

Everything you need to install

[WWW] http://blatter.com/mceusb/

You need either to modify /etc/init.d/lirc to start up the device /dev/lirc0 or make a link from /dev/lirc to /dev/lirc0

You could use irw to check the keys pressed and modify /etc/freevo/lircrc
